Jeremy CollakeOwner / Software Engineer at Bitsum Technologies |
Jeremy Collake is a software engineer. He develops, maintains, or has completed, a number software projects, from large to small, and of all different types for more than a decade. Most of it is free, open/source work. The content varies from embedded linux to Windows, and developer tools to consumer utilities.
He currently sells licenses for his software and/or solicits user donations. PECompact and Process Lasso are two of the most popular at this time. His JCALG1 compression algorithm, developed in x86 assembly, and it is still being used today by VMWare Thinapp and by AMD on certain BIOS compression. He also worked with Steve Gibson for a period, developing some low-level x86-32 assembly and compression code - as mentioned by PBS. Later Jeremy developed a Windows executable compressor named PECompact. It is used by Google on their Google Destkop installer, and by hundreds of other software companies. After that he entered the 'consumer' market a bit more and developed Process Lasso, an Windows process optimization and automation tool in use throughout the world. Bitsum software is used by companies such by HP, AMD, Google, many others, and a lot of end users at home. Between all this was research into embedded systems, where, through extensive reverse engineering, programming, and documentation - developed a new method to flash the newer editions of the WRT54G router with a linux based firmware (they ran VxWorks), as mentioned on Slashdot. Jeremy also has developed numerous other freeware, shareware, and open source applications.
As of the time of this writing, the top products of Bitsum by popularity are PECompact and Process Lasso. Process Lasso uses a unique technology to determine system responsiveness and help stabilize Windows systems during the event of an excessively heavily CPU load. The System Responsiveness metric I released over a decade ago, and it is currently available for license. The runtime is a simple service that will provide the current system responsiveness to whichever application asks for it. For information on such licensing, email jeremy@bitsum.com
Since Bitsum is run entirely by him, he has accumulated experience in more different and diverse fields than he'd ever have wanted to ;p. These include, in approximate order of experience. Note that there are ALWAYS people better than me in these fields, this is no claim of superiority over any other developer in any area. My work speaks for itself, sometimes saying good things, and sometimes saying bad things (e.g. if I was lazy that day ;p).
Being private, his Facebook profile is off limits to all but family. but his Google+ profile is available. He has no MySpace profile. He does have a LinkedIn profile, private to all but those connected to him.
Jeremy Collake is married and a citizen of the USA, from where he operates his small software business.
